Burlington has one of the older populations in the GTA and a housing mix to match: lakeshore condos downtown and in Aldershot, the 1950s and 60s bungalows of Roseland, Shoreacres and Elizabeth Gardens, and the 1990s and 2000s subdivisions of Millcroft, the Orchard and Alton Village. We install grab bars in all of them, and the wall behind the tile decides how.
Burlington bathrooms, and what each one needs
- Downtown and Aldershot condos, and the retirement residences along Lakeshore. Tiled showers on hollow walls and small ensuites. Weekday-morning bookings, one cart, nothing left behind.
- Roseland, Shoreacres, Elizabeth Gardens, Tyandaga. Bungalows with original ceramic tile, our standard surface, with every hole sealed.
- Millcroft, the Orchard, Alton Village, Headon Forest. One-piece fiberglass or acrylic tub units. Store bars with wood screws fail in these; we anchor into the wall behind the unit and the bar holds 500 lb.
- Renovated bathrooms anywhere in the city. Porcelain and marble take slower drilling and different anchors, stated in the quote.
What we install in Burlington homes
- Brushed stainless steel grab bars, 18-inch and 24-inch, straight or L-shaped, diamond-knurled grip, covered end caps, no rust. Rated for 500 lb.
- Anchoring matched to the wall: ceramic tile as standard, porcelain, marble and granite with the extra drilling they need, fiberglass and acrylic surrounds, concrete and block, and a WingIts anchor on drywall. Every hole sealed against water.
- Fitted on the same visit: toilet safety rails, hand-held shower wands with a grab bar mount, anti-slip treatment for the tub floor, bath benches.
- Five-year parts and labour warranty on every installed bar. Fully insured, WSIB covered.
How a Burlington visit works
- Photos first. Two pictures of the tub or shower. We reply with the bars we recommend, where each goes, and a firm quote. Nobody comes to sell you anything.
- The walkthrough. On the day, before any drilling, the installer shows the bars and confirms every position for how the person actually moves. If the bars are for a parent, we work with them directly.
- One visit, one to three hours. Bars are ready to use 12 hours later, once the sealant has set, and the bathroom is left clean.
A discharge from Joseph Brant Hospital is the most common reason a Burlington family calls, and most installations are scheduled within days of an approved quote. See how our grab bar installation works and free and funded grab bars for seniors in Ontario.
Grab bar installation in Burlington: common questions
Do you install grab bars in Burlington condos and retirement residences?
Yes. Buildings are booked on weekday mornings, everything arrives on one cart, and no permit is needed. Telling management the date is usually enough, and the installation is sealed and does not damage the wall.
Can grab bars go into a fiberglass tub unit?
Yes. Most Millcroft and Orchard homes have one. We anchor through the unit into the hollow wall behind with hardware made for that, and the bar carries 500 lb.
Where should the bars go in a bungalow bathroom?
Usually a vertical bar at the tub entry for stepping in, an angled bar on the back wall for lowering and rising, and a bar beside the toilet. The exact positions are confirmed with the person who will use them, on the day.
How soon can you come to Burlington?
Once we have your photos and you approve the quote, most Burlington installations are scheduled within days.
