Port Perry is half an hour north of our Oshawa head office, straight up Simcoe Street, and we have been installing grab bars there and across Scugog Township for years: the century homes off Queen Street, the bungalows near the lake, the retirement community on the west shore, and the farm and country properties around Prince Albert, Blackstock, Greenbank, Seagrave, Nestleton, Caesarea and Scugog Island. There is no separate trip charge hidden anywhere; the quote we send from your photos is the price.
Port Perry bathrooms, and what each one needs
- Century and Victorian homes in the old town. Plaster walls, small bathrooms and tile that has been there for decades. The bar has to go where a hand reaches, and the anchoring has to suit a wall that is rarely square. That is routine for us.
- Bungalows and 1970s to 90s homes. Ceramic tile tub surrounds, our standard surface, with the occasional drywall section that gets a WingIts anchor.
- Rural and farm properties. Fiberglass or acrylic tub-and-shower units on hollow walls. Store bars with wood screws do not hold in these; our anchors do, rated for 500 lb.
- Retirement and adult-lifestyle homes. Often a walk-in shower already, where a vertical bar at the entry and a second bar on the back wall make the difference between showering alone and needing help.
What we install in Port Perry homes
- Brushed stainless steel grab bars, 18-inch and 24-inch, straight or L-shaped, diamond-knurled grip, covered end caps, no rust. Rated for 500 lb.
- Anchoring matched to the wall: ceramic tile as standard, porcelain, marble and granite with the extra drilling they need, fiberglass and acrylic surrounds, and a WingIts anchor on drywall. Every hole sealed against water.
- Fitted on the same visit: toilet safety rails, hand-held shower wands with a grab bar mount, anti-slip treatment for the tub floor, bath benches.
- Five-year parts and labour warranty on every installed bar. Fully insured, WSIB covered.
How a Port Perry visit works
Text two photos of the tub or shower and we reply with the bars we recommend, where they go and a firm quote, so nobody drives out just to look. On the day, before any drilling, the installer shows the bars and confirms every position for how the person actually moves. Most Port Perry installations take one to three hours, the bars are ready to use 12 hours later, and the bathroom is left clean. We schedule around discharges from Lakeridge Health Port Perry regularly, and because the crew comes from Oshawa, a visit within days is normal.

Grab bar installation in Port Perry: common questions
Do you charge extra to come out to Port Perry or Scugog Island?
No separate travel charge. The quote we send from your photos is the price, and the crew comes from our Oshawa head office, about half an hour away.
Can you install grab bars in an older home with plaster walls?
Yes. Plaster and lath are common in the old town, and we carry the anchoring for it. The bar is positioned where a hand reaches, then anchored and sealed to suit the wall behind it.
Do grab bars work in a fiberglass tub surround?
Yes. Most rural and newer Port Perry homes have a one-piece fiberglass or acrylic unit on a hollow wall. We anchor through the unit into the wall behind it with hardware made for that, and the bar holds 500 lb.
Can a family member in the city arrange this for a parent in Port Perry?
Yes. Send the photos and approve the quote from wherever you are. We confirm the positions with your parent on the day, before any drilling.
How soon can you come?
Once we have your photos and you approve the quote, most Port Perry installations are scheduled within days.
